Place a survey with a block or widget

The Gutenberg block and Elementor widget let you place a survey by picking it from a list, instead of typing [surveyx id="123"] by hand. Both need Pro.

Prerequisites​

  • An active Pro licence.
  • A survey you've already created (either edition can create it; Pro can render it).

Gutenberg block​

  1. In the block editor, open the block inserter and search for SurveyX — that's the block's full display title in the inserter.
  2. Insert it, then pick a survey from the picker — it preloads your 10 most recent surveys, and you can search by title or ID for anything older.
  3. Set the size, from Extra Small to Extra Large. It defaults to Large.

Elementor widget​

  1. In Elementor, drag the widget labeled SurveyX onto the page.
  2. In the widget's settings panel, search for and select a survey.
  3. Set Size: Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large. It defaults to Large.

What respondents see​

Both render exactly what the shortcode renders — the block and widget are a thin wrapper around [surveyx id="X" size="Y"], nothing more. That means the same rules as the shortcode apply: the cover always shows the Stacked layout, never Image left, Image right or Full screen, and there are no page-level SEO tags the way the standalone survey page has.

What a free site sees instead​

Neither the block nor the widget exists in the free plugin — there's no free-tier version to fall back to. A free site's only ways to place a survey are the standalone page and the shortcode.

Troubleshooting​

The block or widget is available in the editor, but the published page shows nothing. Both are added to the editor whenever the Pro plugin is installed, regardless of whether your licence is active — only rendering on the front end checks the licence. Check that your Pro licence is active.

The survey I want isn't in the initial picker list. The picker preloads only the 10 most recent surveys. Type in the search field to find an older one by title or ID.

The cover doesn't look like what I set in the editor. Image left, Image right and Full screen covers only render on a survey's own page. A block or widget embed always shows the Stacked cover, the same as the shortcode. See Set your survey's title and cover.
